“SKYWARD”

HEY EVERYONE! HOPE YOU’RE SAFE & WELL!!!

Ive received a great response from the big cats and recent work, THANK YOU!  I’ve also had a few inquiries and wanted to touch base. You’ll notice I’ve pulled my shop.  For several reasons and I’ll talk more on that later, But for now I’ve decided not to have a full time webstore.  Instead I’ll be treating it more like a pop up shop.  Each release with a fresh collection of artwork, media and other exclusives.  Limited availability in both time and quantity.  Each series comprised essentially of 1/1 originals or small runs of embellished prints/items.  For me personally that’s where my focus and passions lie.  Maybe a drop every 1 or 2 months and have the shop open for a week or 2 max.  I’ll also have some cool gifts/care packages for opening days and first wave of orders.  Next month I’ll test the drop with tigers and a few other recent works.  Please feel free to contact me directly (Bo@OutsideVoiceStudios.com) anytime for a list of available paintings and inventory.  Thanks again for the love and support!  Peace and good vibes to you all. 

I’ve mentioned on the podcast, I’m taking some time to develop a few fundamentals. I’ve spent hours in sketchbooks covering the basics and sharpening techniques. I’m self taught so much of what Ive learned was in random bits based on interests or resources. So I’ve reached a place in my creative career that I decided to take a step back, reevaluate and reprioritize. I recently turned 29 so took a good solid look at my life, where I’m at, where I’ve come from and how far I still have to go. Sometimes you gotta be honest with yourself and get back to the drawing board. I also had to remember what’s important to me. To give myself the freedom to create what I enjoy and not just what’s going to be easily recognizable or relatable. Taking brief breaks away from social media helps to work without worrying about Likes or Followers. Yes IG is fun and a great tool for business but it’s not always a realistic evaluation of someone’s passion or worth. I decided to refocus on what motivates me to paint and create. To channel the 4 year old me drawing on the walls with crayons. I’m excited to work a few new concepts on canvas, but I’m also taking my time and not rushing the paintings. For now, after having spent so much time hunched over sketchbooks drawing hands and shading, I shook off the resistance by painting on paper. Abstract and without rigid guidelines or expectations. I created this series for myself. Purely to play with color schemes, textures and techniques. I had to shake these ideas/feelings out of my brain to move forward with more detailed pieces. Thought it might be fun to share it and give you all an opportunity to grab a 1 of 1 original, signed and stamped. Peace.

In October 2018, I had the pleasure of painting a mural for Desert Curios, an awesome antique shop located in Yucca Valley, Ca. The owners, Jeff & Holly are beautiful humans, every bit as unique and genuine as the treasures they've collected/ curated.
